Review: Vanicream Lite Lotion

Hai ~

Today I'm back with a review of Vanicream's 'Lite Lotion'. This lotion doubles up as a face lotion as well as a hand and body lotion. What makes this lotion unique from other moisturizers is that it claims to be 'formulated without dyes, lanolin, fragrance, masking fragrance, parabens, formaldehyde, non-greasy, non-comedogenic (does not cause blackheads), easily absorbed and long-lasting.' (Description from main website) With that aside, let's get right into the review. ^^

Please note that a moisturizer is any substance that is able to retain water in the skin. Moisturizers come in two common forms: lotions and creams. I use both of the terms, lotion and moisturizer, interchangeably so please don't be confused. :3

Picture of the front of the bottle. Shows their 'formulated without' claim and you can also see that it's great for sensitive skin and recommended by dermatologists.

This shows the hygienic pump and did I mention how big it is?! (That's what she said ^^)

Vanicream comes in two types: their original 'Moisturizing Skin Cream' and their new 'Lite Lotion'. Their original skin cream is a thicker, heavier formula that delivers intense hydration recommended for sensitive, extremely dry, and irritated skin. On the other hand, their 'Lite Lotion', like its name implies, is a lighter, thinner formula but still maintains the perfect amount of hydration. Because I have combination dry and oily acne-prone skin, I didn't feel the need for the extra hydration so I chose the 'Lite Lotion' instead and two years later, this is still the best moisturizer I have ever tried.

Ingredients list part one. (I'm sorry about the two part pictures. The bottle is cylindrical so it's hard to get one clear picture of the whole list of ingredients.)

Ingredients list part two.

The consistency is light, thin, and has a cooling gel effect. What I love most, other than the short ingredients list, is how quickly it's absorbed into the skin and the soft suppleness in my skin afterwards. Because of how light it is, I can use it for both day and night. Not only is it light enough to be worn under make-up during the day but also hydrating enough for nighttime use. After absorbing into the skin, it doesn't leave any greasy feeling whatsoever which makes it even more ideal for wearing under make-up. I love how smoothly my face make-up just glides on after ~

The lotion is very lightweight and thin. Doesn't feel thick at all.

Here, I've rubbed the lotion in about three quarters of the way. It takes no time at all to absorb into the skin.

This is after the lotion has absorbed into my skin. It's completely smooth and feels hydrated. There's no greasy feeling afterwards, no shine, no residue.

As for the original claim of the product, this lotion is white with no dyes, no artificial or masking scents, non-greasy, and as far as I've used it, never caused any blackheads or breakouts for me. This lotion goes above and beyond my expectations.

Overall:

For the packaging, I give it a 5/5. It comes in a large 16 fl. oz pump bottle. The pump keeps the lotion hygienic and the large bottle usually lasts me at least 4-6 months. A little goes a long way for this product. :3

For the formula, I give it a 5/5. It's a lightweight formula but still maintains a good level of hydration for both day and nighttime use. There are no harsh chemical irritants in the ingredients and no fragrance.

For the price, I give it a 4.5/5. Depending on where you buy it, the lotion ranges anywhere from $12-13. It is a bit pricey but for the amount of product you get and the quality of it, I think it's well worth it.

I would highly recommend this lotion as well as Vanicream's line of products for anyone with sensitive, dry and irritated skin. Even those with eczema, psorasis or other skin irritation would really enjoy this product. I would specifically recommend the 'Lite Lotion' to those with combination or oily skin because their cream formula is a bit heavy and greasy. But for the winter, I do prefer to switch to the 'Moisturizing Skin Cream' for more hydration but it is greasier than the lotion and more difficult to wear under make-up. Bottom line, I love this moisturizer and it's been my HG moisturizer for years now.

Please leave any questions in the comments section below.

Thank you for reading! <3

If you are interested in purchasing this product, it is available at all drugstores and pharmacies and retails for around $12-13 for the 'Lite Lotion' and $14-15 for the 'Moisturizing Skin Cream' but, the pricing usually varies by stores.

  2. Hi, I'm female. I'm using the Vanicream Sunscreen and I just bought the Lite lotion. Can the Lite lotion reali replace the normal face moisturizer and be my new face moisturizer and put it on face for day and night?

    1. Of course! The Lite Lotion can replace your day moisturizer but just keep in mind that the Lite Lotion has no SPF so it won't give you any protection during the day. Make sure you use a sunscreen if you're planning to use the Lite Lotion as your daytime moisturizer. As for night time, if you have combination skin like I do and your skin isn't very dry then the Lite Lotion should be enough. However, since it's getting colder here, I've actually switched to the heavier cream version because my skin is getting drier. But overall, I think the Lite Lotion would be great for day or night but just remember to wear sunscreen underneath during the day.

    1. Sorry for the late reply, but I would recommend the Sport SPF 30 or 35 because it already blocks about ~97% of UV rays. Anything after SPF 30 seems unnecessary. Just remember to reapply often! ^-^
